Kick-Ass Females: Abbie Mills from Sleepy Hollow

Okay first off I wanna start by saying how glad I am that this show has a WOC in a lead role and as a cop no less. Seriously. I am so gosh darn happy. And honestly they couldn’t have picked a better actress to play this amazing character. Nicole Beharie does a wonderful job as Lieutenant Abbie Mills.

Power
First off she is one of the only females in a male-dominated environment, but she doesn’t let that phase her for even a second. She is very sure of herself and her capabilities and is uber professional. That’s not to say she sees herself as better than her male counterparts. No way. She sees herself as their equal. As she says to Ichabod in the very first episode “Do you see this gun? I'm authorized to use it. On you”. She is fierce, doesn’t take shit from no-one and can probably out-snark anyone she interacts with.

Vulnerable
But just because she’s strong that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have vulnerabilities. But what I love most is that she doesn’t try to hide it. She doesn’t wear a stoic mask to hide what she feels. She feels love, affection, sadness, sympathy…. And the list goes on. But not once does she try to hide it and present herself as something she’s not. She is refreshingly genuine in a world full of pretensions.

Brave
Okay so it kinda come with the job description, but seriously can we just talk about the fact that she walks into all kinds of dangerous situation without blinking an eye? Crazy, possessed gunman? No problem; Suicidal psychologist? Where she at?; crazy fire shooting witch? Come at me. Seriously. So brave. If it were me I’d be peeing in my pants. But I suppose it’s not hard to be brave with a tall, dark, British guy by your side. Just kidding. We all know she only needs him for one thing only. You feel me?

Considerate
Ichabod is not a man who wants to appear weak, or showcase his uncertainties. Even when he’s walking around in a completely unfamiliar time period. But luckily for him Abbie picks up on this and just looks out for him without bringing it up in conversation. Like when she leaves post it notes in his motel room so he’ll know how to use the appliances. And then she brings him baked goods as well. She’s just so perfect.

And that is why this female is super-duper kick-ass. Srsly Ichabod… If you don’t want her I’ll gladly take her off your hands. We’d be best friends foreva.

Misc: Ichabod Crane/ Tom Mison

Ok to be fair this isn’t really anything more than fangirl musings. But seriously I just can’t help myself. This man is just too perfect. And when I say “this man” I’m not quite sure which one I’m talking about. Ichabod or Tom. To me they’re one and the same. And to him too it seems. In a recent interview he said, "None of what you see from Ichabod is acting… I'm generally that baffled constantly." Which I don’t find hard to believe. I’ve actually seen quite a bit of Mr. Mison before he landed this role, and throughout the roles I’ve seen him play and the way he normally comports himself in interviews and such; it’s obvious that his adorkable demeanour comes quite naturally.

I first saw him as Mr Bingley in the BBC miniseries “Lost in Austen” which also has a similar premise, in which a classic is taken and thrown into a modern context. Complete with time travel and the inevitable upheaval and chaos that this creates. And I have to say it was love at first sight. I remember when no one but my friends and I knew who Tom Mison even was. We used to watch “Lost In Austen” all the time, and we totally fell in love with Tom as Mr Bingley. So much so that he became our ideal hot guy and we fangirled about him ALL the time. And this was years ago. Now all of a sudden he’s getting more well-known and it so weird… like other people actually know who he is?! So yeah I feel a bit possessively jealous… but c’mon you can hardly blame me. I mean even my mother is in love with him. We were watching the first episode a while back and she was like, "He looks like Jesus.... *pause*... but like a hot Jesus" <-- this is the truth.

And she is so on the right track. I mean with the sexy facial hair, high cheekbones, smouldering blue eyes and luscious, flowing hair that would make any Pantene model jelly; he’s just irresistible. In fact it seems like every outdoor shot of him looks like he’s in a shampoo commercial. Like for real. Just look at my hair blowing softly in the gentle breeze…

And oh the voice. The accent. The BODY

Gah he’s the perfect package. Really he is. And he sure knows how to rock period costume. So playing the part of a man-out-of-time?... yeah he’s so got this. If you don’t find him attractive, then you’re a rotten liar. And I’m just going to stop right there. I think I’m having heart palpitations… Oh Tom save me *swoons*

Sleepy Hollow- Season 1, Episode 3

*Spoilers ahead

Holy Jennifer Mills. That’s right Sleepyheads, in this episode we meet the mysterious and slightly disturbed younger sister of our favourite bad-ass female cop. And I must say I like this girl. She’s got spunk. She’s like a darker (in the figurative sense), more hard-core version of her sister. And I just love how she sasses Ichabod. Tall, dark and British indeed. I for one will be looking forward to seeing more of her.

The episode starts off in a dream sequence where Abbie is revisits a skewed version of the memory of her and Jenny’s interrogation after they claimed to have seen a demon. Ichabod’s in it (with creepy white eyes) and also a weird ass sandman guy. She then gets woken up and is summoned to a suicide scene, where the psychologist/ doctor lady that treated Abbie’s sister Jenny jumps off a building right after giving Abbie a cryptic warning. This is once again repeated when Mr Gillespie, who discovered the Mill’s sisters after the demon attack when they were kids, shoots himself in the head. But again not before delivering a warning that the next time that Abbie goes to sleep she will die. He refers to the “sandman”. So anyway long story short, Ichabbie visits a dodgy car salesman/ native American shaman; drink some suspicious looking tea; take off their shirts (yumm… shirtless Ichabod); get stung by scorpions; and enter the dream world, where Abbie has to prove herself to the Sandman… who is one creepy ass dude.

I for one cannot wait for the next episode on tonight!! Kyaahh bring on the sexy, british, goodness that is Tom Mison. Mhhmm. Yes please.

Sleepy Hollow- Season 1, Episode 2

*Spoilers ahead

Ok let’s acknowledge the demon in the room. Yeah the really creepy one with ram’s horn’s, a limp, and who speaks less than fluent ancient Greek. So we were first introduced to him in the first episode where we found out that he (it?... I’m assuming it’s male) appeared to the Mills sisters in the woods when they were kids. Abbie keeps her mouth shut about it and tries to run away from the truth while her sister Jenny spills it and ends up being institutionalised. Thus setting up a rather interesting sibling dynamic that’ll be explored later in the series. Let the claws come out ladies… or perhaps not. There’s already enough violence as it is.

So this demon, the same one that killed Officer Andy Brooks (played by John Cho), then brings him back. What? Yeah I dunno. I think he only snapped off Andy’s neck in the first place cause he pissed him off. Look out y’all we got a crazy-ass beeyotch of a demon (with a mad case of PMS) on the loose. As if we didn’t have enough people losing their heads cause of the headless horseman (who himself is without a head). I feel like “death” is not gonna be a big thing in this series with all the resurrections going on. But I gotta say the whole neck snapping back into place was kinda gross to watch. Especially with the excess skin after the fact. Anyhoo… speaking of resurrections, we find out that there is a purpose for Andy’s resurrection… and that is to assist with the resurrection of Serilda of Abadon (who is/was a high priestess belonging to the dark coven of witches). Yeah there’s a lot of resurrections…. and beheadings. I told you this show was going to be good.

So anyway, Andy and Serilda have until the turn of the blood moon to get the ashes of the descendants of the men who had her burned at the stake for witchcraft and sorcery. And of course Abbie and Ichabod have to stop them. With a lot of snarky banter as they do. Oh and an amazing snark-off between Ichabod and Abbie’s ex Luke. That 15 seconds was almost worth more than the rest of the entire episode for me. I say almost because the best part was without a doubt watching Ichabod shirtless in his motel room trying to figure out the intricacies of modern technology (with helpful sticky notes from Abbie… awww).

Although I am truly irked by the fact there wasn't more shirtless-ness.

So Ichabbie end up blowing Serilda up within the tunnels beneath the police station before she gets to complete her resurrection. And centuries old gunpowder may or may not have been used in the process. What did I learn from all this? That gunpowder doesn't have an expiry date.

To end on a high note, Abbie is visited by the spirit of Sheriff Corbin who tells her to not be afraid of “49”. Methinks this has something to do with the elusive Jenny Mills… mmm okay I lie. I only know cause I've already watched the third episode.

Also Major NEWS!! I just found out that after only 3 episodes since the premiere, FOX has decided to renew the series for a second season!! Excitement! This is truly momentous, and I can only think that it is because of how big the fandom has become in such an extremely short amount of time. And I’m sure the outstanding ratings helped convince them a bit. Whatever it was, I couldn't be more relieved or elated. Keep it coming, baby.

Kick- Ass Females: Jessica Pearson | Suits

Okay, so my next pick for kick ass females is none other than Jessica Pearson from Suits, played by Gina Torres.
Thought this gif was fitting, it's from: http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/jessica-pearson

There is something about Jessica which is just so powerful. She's so fierce and let's not forget her fashion is one of the best I've seen for any female role. What makes her kick-ass?

#1 She's a female at the top of her career.
Her name is on the masthead-before-any other partners i.e. Pearson Hardman/ Pearson Darby/ Pearson Darby Spector. Females at the top of their career are always so admirable. She fought to get to her position and this shows strength and determination.

#2 She built Harvey.
She saw Harvey's brilliance during his youth (while he was a worker in the mailroom) and gave him an opportunity to foster and grow it by paying his way through school. Without Jessica, Harvey would be nothing.

#3 Her wardrobe.
Okay so you must be sick and tired of me constantly bringing this up but seriously her wardrobe is phenomenal. Like absolutely unbelievably phenomenal. Classy, yet sexy, elegant and so chic. Let's take a look:
Image from: http://thestitcherati.com/crafts/sewing/fashion-inspiration-the-women-of-suits/#.UlJ7-2QpYSg

#4 Her loyalty.
She will stand by Harvey even when he does morally questionable things. She's dedicated to supporting him and often comes across as more than just his boss, but as someone who genuinely cares about him.

#5 The way she kicked Hardman out was pretty badass.

#6 She's a good example of...
She's a good example of the idea that hard work will get you to where you want to be. That if you truly work hard nothing and no one can stop you from getting to where you want to be.

Overall, Jessica Pearson is someone who is pretty damn respectable. She is a character who I admire. Hardworking, strong willed, stubborn and determined she's someone who I look up to and who is 100% a kick-ass female character.

I hope one day I can be half as successful as she is.

Ships: Phoebe and Cole - Charmed

Ships: Phoebe and Cole - Charmed.

So, I recently rewatched the entire series of Charmed for the 43958028532030th time. It is such a fantastic show. I could write at least 1000 posts about it that would aptly fit under the ‘Kick-Ass Females’ tab. Alas that is not on today’s agenda.

I just wanted to address the relationship between Phoebe Halliwell and Cole Turner. These two were perfect. I loved them so much and still do. Their journey was nothing short of tumultuous but they fought so hard to be together and nothing is sadder than the fact that they were not end game. I mean, Cole became The Source and obviously had to be vanquished, BUT IT DOESN’T MEAN IT HURTS ANY LESS. The love that these two shared… You just felt it. It was so beautiful. Cole loved Phoebe so much. She was literally everything to him. He gave up his demonic half to be with her, stripped his powers and not to mention the amount of time he spent fearing for his life because bounty hunters were constantly chasing him per The Source’s instructions after it was found out that he had fallen in love with a witch.

And Phoebe… My heart.  She constantly argued for him despite logic and her sister’s trepidations. She fought so hard to show that Cole was good and it is just unbelievably sad that even though he was, there were other forces at play and in the end human Cole wasn’t enough. Ughhhhh.

Despite all the issues and everything they faced, they were such an amazing couple.

Cole’s goodbye letter to Phoebe… My heart.

Dear Phoebe,
If I’m dead right now, I know it was at your hand. No one else in heaven or hell had power over me.
Please, don’t cry.
I was dead before I met you. I was born the day you loved me, and my love for you will keep me alive forever
Love,
Cole”

HOW DOES THAT NOT JUST MAKE YOU WANT TO CRY FOR THE REST OF ETERNITY?

Still not over it.

The chemistry they had.. I personally feel that no other guy Phoebe dated remotely compared to Cole and how much she loved him.

JUST LOOK AT THEM

IT STILL HURTS (11 years later. What even is my life?)

Review: Suits Season 3 (SO FAR)

Okay to me this show is pure perfection. Why?

Harvey Specter. Enough said.

Gif from: http://dekolette.tumblr.com/post/7461190112

Okay so in all seriousness I think this is one of the most brilliant shows on television. But I'm not here to tell you why (because otherwise this blog post would go on forever) I'm here to discuss season 3 of Suits so far.

So this season was a bit different in that it had one prolonged case, Hessington Oil, which covered basically the entire season (so far) and this season also entailed Harvey and Jessica, not as a team but as rivals, with Harvey's goal to become a named partner and get his name on that damned mast head.

In all honesty I didn't really like this side of Harvey and Jessica's relationship. I did not like seeing them as rivals. To me they make a great team and to watch them go back and forth was annoying. I love Jessica, she is one of those dominant female roles that just absolutely kick ass (not to mention she has an impeccable wardrobe).

One of the other key story lines within this season was the relationship between Mike and Rachel (finally!). Now I really like seeing them together and after that steamy season 2 ending which was so hot I was literally on fire, I felt like season 3 explored their relationship pretty well. I really do like them together and I hope that this season doesn't end with a split between them. However, I do see Rachel as being a bit flaky with Mike's secret just because I could see her get mad at him and then go and report him.

Photo from: http://www.fanpop.com/clubs/rachel-and-mike/images/31221163/title/suits-s2-cast-mike-rachel-photo

This season also showed history into Harvey and Donna's relationship and further explored the dynamic between them. To me they are an unbelievable duo and ultimately must be together- I mean they just have to. However, we do have the return of Scottie and Harvey opening his heart up to her (oh gosh, yes I went there) and that he wants her in his life. To be honest, I don't really like them together and frankly Scottie just annoys me, because even though she's such a bad ass on her own she's so helplessly in love with Harvey that'll she'd probably do just about anything to be with him. And I really just want Harvey and Donna together.

So overall, I've found this season of Suits a bit slow. It's been a bit boring as well. I'm sick of the Hessington Oil case and the fact that it seems like there's always someone trying to completely destroy someone else. I wish they'd show Jessica more, her character is so powerful they could do so much with it. Hopefully the next half of the season will pick things up again because this show is bloody brilliant!

Sleepy Hollow- Season 1, Episode 1

*Contains spoilers

So by now you’ve probably heard about the new TV series that’s making the rounds on our televisions (or if you’re into less than legal methods of watching television… then online). Sleepy Hollow is making a name for itself… in a BIG way. It has an absolutely amazing cast, an entertaining script and overall an appealing aesthetic. There’s a good dose of drama; suspense; history; mystery; humour; and decapitation. Yup that’s right… the headless horseman, baby. It’s television gold. And after watching this particular episode more than once, I can attest to the fact that is was executed really well (pun sooo intended).

Based on the short story “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” written by Washington Irving, this is a modern interpretation that takes a classic and throws it into a decidedly modern-day context. Complete with a kickass female lead and the universally appreciated “buddy-cop” television stereotype.

Tom Mison *swoon* plays the lead character of Ichabod Crane. However in this very modern re-interpretation, we are introduced to him clawing his way out of a grave after being dead for 250 years or so. Around the same time we find out that the Headless Horseman has also arisen from the dead, and is going around terrorising the town of Sleepy Hollow and basically just chopping people’s heads off. As you do. And that’s where Lieutenant Abbie Mills, played by Nicole Beharie, comes in. After witnessing her partner being decapitated by the horseman (and somehow escaping unscathed and with head intact), she inevitability gets thrown in the path of Ichabod Crane who happens to be arrested under the suspicion of the good sheriff’s murder whilst walking around town in old-timey gear. Of course they would arrest the sexy homeless looking guy in the revolutionary outfit. Of course.

Anyways their paths cross and long-story short we see the start of something beautiful *sniffles*. And oh that chemistry. Bestill my shipping heart. Ahem, back to the point. After Ichabod is arrested they hook him up to a lie-detector machine and get him to reveal how he came to be in Sleepy Hollow at this time. He then (in quite an amusing manner) recalls the story of how he died while fighting for General Washington in the Revolutionary War, and subsequently we learn of how the headless horseman came to be… well headless. Cue flashbacks to the Revolutionary War where we see Ichabod being a total BAMF by chopping off the head of the… you guessed it… the headless horseman. Anyhoo, so Ichabbie (that’s my ship name for Ichabod and Abbie) team up to uncover a number of fascinating things. Namely that Ichabod’s wife (from way back when), Katrina, was (is?) a witch; Ichabod and the headless horseman are totes blood brothers (not really but kinda… they’re tied by blood); the headless horseman is one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse and they have to stop him from getting his head back and subsequently awakening the other three horsemen; that John Cho is actually a traitorous mofo; and lastly that Ichabbie totes have a secret burning desire for each other (this hasn’t yet become canon but I feel like it’s only a matter of time… I mean did you feel that meaningful exchange of glances there at the end of the episode… I could practically smell the pheromones wafting out of my TV). I absolutely love their dynamic. You can be sure that I’ll be writing about this ship in another post.

Overall I’m pretty optimistic about this new series and really, really hope that it’s domination of TV ratings continue; because it would be such a disappointment if they axed (again, pun most definitely intended) the show. This pilot episode was definitely a good indication of the potential amazingness to come, and was undeniably well-received. It has set up many possible plot lines and courses; established a multitude of suspicions and considerations; and created undeterminable and unfathomable character bearings. I find myself (much to my chagrin) unable to completely and accurately determine the veracity, allegiances, intentions, or dispositions of any of the characters. It’s as if they are all holding something back, and I think that is a big part of why this show is so intriguing. It really makes you question the integrity of each character; what choices they will make; and what will ultimately become of them. I, for one, will definitely follow this series in order to get to get to the bottom of these uncertainties. It’s true… I’m hooked.

I think fantasy lovers will definitely enjoy this series. If you enjoy shows such as “Supernatural” or “Grimm” then this is definitely one for you.

If you’re in Australia then you can currently catch this series on Channel 10 Tuesday nights at 8:30pm and also a re-run of the latest episodes at 8:30pm Saturday nights. And yes, you bet I watch it on both nights. It’s practically an obligation as a fan of the show. So, potential Sleepyheads (that’s the name the fans in this fandom have created for themselves)… I hope you give this show a watch because it is totally awesomesauce! Also because Tom Mison is one fine piece of ass… just sayin’. Don’t hate.

Vent: America's Next Top Model Cycle 20 - Rant on contestants.

Before you judge me (stop judging me), America’s Next Top Model (ANTM) is AMAZING (stop judging me). It’s actual comedic gold but it will also make you cry like a little baby (stop judging me). Best of both worlds (stop judging me).

The show is currently in its 20th cycle, spearheaded by the wonderfully talented and ridiculously gorgeous Tyra Banks.

I’ve got a lot of problems with the contestants this cycle and now, you’re gonna hear about it. (Also, some of them are actually awesome):

Chlea: Don’t even remember her.

Chris H: Ehhhh, I just think he’s really misunderstood. He can be a dick but he can also be really sweet, especially with Nina. Every time he talks about his childhood, I just… so sad.

THIS GIF OF HIM THO.

Cory: Totally awesome guy. He is ALWAYS the peacekeeper in the house. The guy is so polite and sweet and I just... I really hope he does well because he deserves it.

Don: UNFFFFFFFFFFFFF. Seriously. Dis guyyyy. The tattoos. His eyes. I just. If the competition were based off looks alone then he would win, no questions. Also, the chicken leg photo-shoot in the latest episode is my new favourite thing ever.

Jeremy: His face. It annoys me. Always the same face. ALWAYS.

Jiana: UGHHHHHHHHH. SHE ALWAYS DID THE SAME THING WITH HER LIPS AT PHOTO-SHOOTS AND NOTHING ANNOYS ME MORE. Also. Her and Phil. Ughhhhh. Couldn’t stand her.

Jourdan: Jourdan is crushing it. Seriously. She could totally win. And I kind of hope she does. She’s the most talented and the least convoluted. And she doesn’t lead any one on (side reference to Jiana and Phil). She knows she has a boyfriend, she knows she’s in the competition to do her best so she doesn’t entangle herself in complication (UNLIKE OTHERS UGHHHHH).

LOOK AT HOW GORGEOUS THIS PHOTO IS. LOOK AT IT. LOOK AT IT.

Kanani: I feel bad that she left, especially because of the whole clown debacle. But. Oh well.

Marvin: Starvin’ Marvin. This guy. I swear. He confuses me so much. One week I really dislike him because he tries so hard to get with ANY of the girls and he talks as if he thinks he’s way too cool. Then the other week he refuses to say what Perez Hilton was directing him to say because he felt it was too rude. Props to him for that. Also, the guilt he felt when Kanani was eliminated because he practically traumatised her by hiding the clown doll in her bed. He was crying and everything! Favourite thing Marvin has ever said:

"I've cried in the girl's room. I've cried in the bathroom. I've literally cried everywhere."

Mike: Is this the ice cream guy Tyra discovered? If so, he was really annoying.

Nina: Those eyes, those eyes, those eyes. I love that she really tried to connect with Chris even though everyone kind of hated him. She’s so sweet and quirky and I really like her.

Phil: Ahhh, yess. Homeless Jesus. He’s a cool guy. His hanging around Jiana was so annoying though and when he broke the fence on the set, like. Dude. Seriously?

Renee: She’s actually an awesome model. She could very well win. Although if it came down to her and Jourdan, hello drama. However, much can be said about her personality. She’s kind of a bitch. She can be very rude and horrible when she wants to be.

For fun and laughter, here's a gif of Jiana being eliminated (HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA)

My prediction is that Jourdan and Renee will be final two. omfgggg, the drama that would ensue. I can't even imagine it.

Seriously, though. This cycle is tres fab. Really liking the introduction of men. Kind of balances everything out.

Misc: Why Arrested Development is the best show ever.

My Love for Arrested Development

Why Arrested Development is just the greatest show ever.

http://arresteddevelopment.wikia.com/wiki/File:Cast_lineup_wallpaper.jpeg

#1. It's absolutely ridiculously, yet brilliant at the same time.
From Tobias' never-nudism, to Buster getting his hand taken of by a seal, to George Michael being named George Michael, to Lucille Bluth's permanent drunkenness. This show contains the most ridiculous scenario's you could possibly imagine, but they are so brilliantly well-written it's impossible to not be taken in by it.

#2. The cameos & supporting characters.
The cameos & supporting roles within this show are pretty freaking incredible and are played by several familiar faces such as:
  • Henry Wrinkler, playing their extremely unhelpful lawyer.
  • Liza Mennelli, playing the love interest of two of the Bluth boys and Lucille's ultimate rival.
  • Charlize Theron as a mentally-not-quite-there potential wife for Michael Bluth.
  • Amy Poehler as the accidental wife of Gob Bluth.
  • Carl Weathers playing an exaggerated version of himself.
  • Judy Greer as George Senior's insane assistant/ mistress.
  • This list goes on and on...
#3. The acting.
I think this is something that is very easily forgotten, given the writing and crazy plot lines of the show. But the acting is pretty damn good. The actors effortlessly pull off their roles and make the ridiculousness come off as believable, which I think is actually pretty incredible. From Lindsay's next-to-no conscience and Buster's general wackiness, the entire cast are highly talented actors.

#4It's just so damn quotable.
This is just one of those shows from which you'll take away millions of quotes.

This show is just so incredible. It's dry humour and documentary style filming has paved the way for several current day comedies and it's not hard to see the influence of it on mainstream comedy programs.

This series encompasses everything that a tv show should have. It has humour, heart, family, insanity and at the very centre an actual relatable storyline. I mean in someway we can all find a little bit of ourselves in each of these characters. As far fetched as that sounds, I mean in Lindsay's need for love (gosh that sounds so cheesy but you know it's true), Tobias' soul searching efforts, Maeybs' rebellion, George Michael's innocence and hope for a better life, Michael's need for stability, Buster's fear of basically everything, Lucille's need for recognition, Gob's search for purpose and George Senior's- well I don't really know the moral's are there but I'm sure theres something.

If you want a tv series that tick's all the boxes then this is the one for you.

Be prepared to fall in love, and then cry when it's over.

The only shit thing I could say about this series is that's it's just way too short.

Review: Devious Maids

Review: Devious Maids, Deviously Good!

This post 100% contains spoilers.

Photo from: http://www.playmakeronline.com/2013/06/24/review-devious-maids-pilot/
Devious Maids is a new show which premiered on the Lifetime channel in America this year. And honestly it's fabulous. With dominant female leads, a murder mystery and of course plenty of secrets and the backdrop of the lavish Beverly Hills life, this show is a perfect mix of drama, comedy and mystery.

There was, well, is a little bit of controversy around this show with many stating it as playing on traditional stereotypes of Latin women on television/ American society. However, I don't truly agree with this. I think the humour, the smarts and passion of the women portray them as wonderfully intelligent, unique characters.

Now the female leads include: Marisol Suarez, Zoila Diaz, Valentina Diaz, Carmen Luna, Rosie Falta. Five fantastically bold women who absolutely just dominate this show and truly what make it so appealing to women and men around the globe.

The entire series is based around the question: "Who killed Flora?" The first thing I love about this, is that well obviously it sparks your curiosity but two the fact that they actually revealed who killed Flora within the first season! This is something rare for television *cough* *cough* Pretty Little Liars *cough* How I Met Your Mother *cough*. However, this also does make me wonder where the series will go next season. Will it further explore the characters lives? Will Marisol return to her job as a college professor? This begs the question of whether the murderer (I won't say who because I don't really want to spoil it for y'all) is actually the murderer, but I don't see who else it could possible be.

Now, when it comes to the female characters I would have to say Carmen (Roselyn Sanchez) is one of my favourites. She's vivacious, sexy and her voice is just plain breathtaking. However, she does annoy me at times in the way that she constantly places her career over the opportunity of love with Sam (Wole Parks). The season finale put her in an interesting position of becoming Alejandro's (Matt Cedano) wife, this is one storyline I can't wait to see play out!

Next is Zoila (Judy Reyes), who sometimes can bug me for her "I don't give no shits attitude", but she truly has a lot of love in her heart, particularly for her daughter Valentina (Edy Ganem). The relationship between Zoila and Valentina perfectly portrays the mother daughter dynamic. I think it truly captures the essence of most mother- daughter relationships. The beautiful Valentina is in love with Remi Delatoure (Drew Van Acker), son of Genieve Delatoure (Susan Lucci), Zoila and Valentina's employer. So her mother does not approve. At all, also because she too fell in love with a rich dude who turned out to be an A-grade douchebag and broke her heart. I can see why she wants to protect her daughter but Remi and Valentina are so lovely together, and so everyone's so torn between Zoila's concern and Valentina's love.

Now, let's discuss Rosie Falta (Dania Ramirez), a beautiful young women whose son is in Mexico whilst she works in America for the Westmore's. From the start it is evident Rosie just wants her son to be with her, but she does not have the means to bring him here. However, her employers Peri (Mariana Klaveno) and Spence Westmore (Grant Show) do, but aren't exactly offering up there services- just yet. Spence and Rosie fall in love and agree to get married, but then Peri brings back Rosie's son and then Rosie's all like, "No Spence. I can't do that to Mrs. Peri." and so the wedding is off. But then the wedding is back on once Spence agrees to adopt Rosie's son and gives a speech about love, happiness and all that jazz. However, Peri finds out and is pretty shattered (I mean who wouldn't be, but she is kind of a cow) and then goes on to ruin there chances of getting married.

Last but definitely not least is Marisol Duarte (Ana Ortiz whom I love because she played Hilda in my all time favourite show Ugly Betty). She's is the mother of Flora's accused killer, Eddie (Eddie Hassell) and is going undercover as a maid to find evidence to prove her son's innocence. She works for the Stappord's and occasionally for the extremely creepy and perverted Powell's. She's actually a college professor and is extremely bright, clever and bold (maybe a little too bold) but at the end of the day she does prove her son is innocent!

So I absolutely adore this show! I can't wait till the next season comes out! And as for the most devious character I would probably have to say: Adrian Powell (Tom Irwin) who is just so laced with creep that I honestly just don't even want to know what goes on in that scheming brain of his. As for the most devious maid I would have to say Marisol. But technically she's not actually a maid, which I guess in turn makes her the most devious.

Vent - Calzona 10x01-10x02

Grey's Anatomy - 10x01-10x02.

What I don’t understand is people who are hating on Callie for taking Sofia away from Arizona. Umm. Did you not watch the episode? They’re alternating every two nights? And initially, all Callie wanted to do was cool down and be given her space. Although, I do understand the panic Arizona felt. Regardless, this is not something that can be used against Callie. She is clearly not crass and wants Arizona to be a part of Sofia’s life, without a doubt. And while I don’t believe the whole ‘you made your bed now sleep in it’, when it comes to Sofia because she’s not just some pawn in their relationship. BUT, honestly. Arizona. What did she expect? She cheated on her WIFE and she’s acting like nothing happened and everything should just go back to normal? She’s acting like what she did can just be talked about and gotten over. IT’S A SERIOUS BETRAYAL. YOU DON’T JUST GET OVER SOMETHING LIKE THAT. Especially since this is the second time Callie has been cheated on.

Also. Can I just say that I feel as if the reactions that the other characters had to Arizona’s cheating were disappointing. Cristina was just like, ‘Robbins cheated on Callie’. Umm. AREN’T YOU AND CALLIE FRIENDS? GOOD FRIENDS IN FACT? DON’T YOU THINK YOU SHOULD GO TALK TO HER, SEE IF SHE’S OKAY?  I just.. Maybe I’m reading too much into this and comparing it to what people in real life would have done but honestly! Callie pretty much doesn’t have anyone that she’s extremely close to anymore. Who can she rely on? At least Meredith’s concern was truly heart-warming. As well as Derek comforting her… Somewhat. He let her drink all his wine, which is something. But still. Of all people, he should know how hurt she would be feeling since Addison cheated on him with HIS BEST FRIEND (I love you Addie). Not to mention, Mark is dead. Mark is dead. Who does that leave? Bailey? She didn’t even say anything about it.

Like. When your spouse cheats, that’s a massive deal is it not? Cristina towards the end, acting all godmother-y was actually really amazing though. But still, I just feel like Callie should have more of an ally to confide in.
If I were there I would have drank all night with Callie and let her cry on my shoulder. That is what friends do. These people have known each other for how long and it just annoys me.

Also. Is Arizona not aware that the word ‘sorry’ exists? Pretty sure the first thing any normal person does after cheating on their significant other is apologise. Nope. Not her.

I really hope that later on this issue comes up. It’s probably because she doesn’t even know WHY she cheated.

Here’s a link to the next sneak peek.

Arizona’s face when Owen fires back with how her and Callie can barely stand to be in the same room. My poor heart. Hopefully she realises how devastating her actions were

BUT. despite the current shit storm (how do you like that for irony?), I have faith. They're Callie and Arizona. They'll make it. I have no doubt. And who knows, like Arizona said, they might even be stronger than before.

For the record, I feel the need to commend both Sara Ramirez and Jessica Capshaw. They're just the most wonderful pair of actresses. Perfect casting is perfect.
