Why Arrested Development is just the greatest show ever.

#1. It's absolutely ridiculously, yet brilliant at the same time.
From Tobias' never-nudism, to Buster getting his hand taken of by a seal, to George Michael being named George Michael, to Lucille Bluth's permanent drunkenness. This show contains the most ridiculous scenario's you could possibly imagine, but they are so brilliantly well-written it's impossible to not be taken in by it.
#2. The cameos & supporting characters.
The cameos & supporting roles within this show are pretty freaking incredible and are played by several familiar faces such as:
- Henry Wrinkler, playing their extremely unhelpful lawyer.
- Liza Mennelli, playing the love interest of two of the Bluth boys and Lucille's ultimate rival.
- Charlize Theron as a mentally-not-quite-there potential wife for Michael Bluth.
- Amy Poehler as the accidental wife of Gob Bluth.
- Carl Weathers playing an exaggerated version of himself.
- Judy Greer as George Senior's insane assistant/ mistress.
- This list goes on and on...
#3. The acting.
I think this is something that is very easily forgotten, given the writing and crazy plot lines of the show. But the acting is pretty damn good. The actors effortlessly pull off their roles and make the ridiculousness come off as believable, which I think is actually pretty incredible. From Lindsay's next-to-no conscience and Buster's general wackiness, the entire cast are highly talented actors.
#4. It's just so damn quotable.
This is just one of those shows from which you'll take away millions of quotes.
This show is just so incredible. It's dry humour and documentary style filming has paved the way for several current day comedies and it's not hard to see the influence of it on mainstream comedy programs.
This series encompasses everything that a tv show should have. It has humour, heart, family, insanity and at the very centre an actual relatable storyline. I mean in someway we can all find a little bit of ourselves in each of these characters. As far fetched as that sounds, I mean in Lindsay's need for love (gosh that sounds so cheesy but you know it's true), Tobias' soul searching efforts, Maeybs' rebellion, George Michael's innocence and hope for a better life, Michael's need for stability, Buster's fear of basically everything, Lucille's need for recognition, Gob's search for purpose and George Senior's- well I don't really know the moral's are there but I'm sure theres something.
If you want a tv series that tick's all the boxes then this is the one for you.
Be prepared to fall in love, and then cry when it's over.
The only shit thing I could say about this series is that's it's just way too short.

Misc: Ichabod Crane/ Tom Mison
Ok to be fair this isn’t really anything more than fangirl musings. But seriously I just can’t help myself. This man is just too perfect. And when I say “this man” I’m not quite sure which one I’m talking about. Ichabod or Tom. To me they’re one and the same. And to him too it seems. In a recent interview he said, "None of what you see from Ichabod is acting… I'm generally that baffled constantly." Which I don’t find hard to believe. I’ve actually seen quite a bit of Mr. Mison before he landed this role, and throughout the roles I’ve seen him play and the way he normally comports himself in interviews and such; it’s obvious that his adorkable demeanour comes quite naturally.
I first saw him as Mr Bingley in the BBC miniseries “Lost in Austen” which also has a similar premise, in which a classic is taken and thrown into a modern context. Complete with time travel and the inevitable upheaval and chaos that this creates. And I have to say it was love at first sight. I remember when no one but my friends and I knew who Tom Mison even was. We used to watch “Lost In Austen” all the time, and we totally fell in love with Tom as Mr Bingley. So much so that he became our ideal hot guy and we fangirled about him ALL the time. And this was years ago. Now all of a sudden he’s getting more well-known and it so weird… like other people actually know who he is?! So yeah I feel a bit possessively jealous… but c’mon you can hardly blame me. I mean even my mother is in love with him. We were watching the first episode a while back and she was like, "He looks like Jesus.... *pause*... but like a hot Jesus" <-- this is the truth.
And she is so on the right track. I mean with the sexy facial hair, high cheekbones, smouldering blue eyes and luscious, flowing hair that would make any Pantene model jelly; he’s just irresistible. In fact it seems like every outdoor shot of him looks like he’s in a shampoo commercial. Like for real. Just look at my hair blowing softly in the gentle breeze…
And oh the voice. The accent. The BODY
Gah he’s the perfect package. Really he is. And he sure knows how to rock period costume. So playing the part of a man-out-of-time?... yeah he’s so got this. If you don’t find him attractive, then you’re a rotten liar. And I’m just going to stop right there. I think I’m having heart palpitations… Oh Tom save me *swoons*
